How to Fix Your Relationship Before They Dump You
“An once of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
No doubt, you have heard this popular expression, but did you know that by following this advice, you could save
yourself a ton of heartache when it comes to dealing with your mate and preventing the, “we have to talk” talk from
ever happening. In fact, many relationships could be saved if only the one party could see the writing on the wall.
Strangely enough, it isn’t really all that hard to see.
Very few of us are taken completely off guard when our partner decides that enough is enough and ends it. Though
we may act as though it came out of the blue, deep down, we could see it coming a mile away.
So why do we simply sit back and let it happen? Well, in many cases, we underestimate the severity of the
problems within the relationship and carry on as though things will eventually work themselves out. We may also
underestimate our partner’s will to follow through with the “unthinkable.”
If you have any doubts about how solid your relationship is, you may want to carefully consider doing some
preemptive damage control. Making the right moves now could save you a ton of stress and anxiety after your partner
pulls the plug.
Keep in mind that it is going to be much more difficult to talk them back into the relationship after they have
officially ended it than it will to prevent it from getting that far in the first place. Once they have actually
dumped you, they have a lot on the line. No doubt, they struggled with the decision for days and agonized over what
to do. This kind of decision is not easily reversible. Besides, they won’t want to appear wishy-washy and
indecisive in the eyes of their friends and everyone else. How would it look if they broke it off and then changed
their mind a day later?
Now, nipping this thing in the bud may not be as difficult as you think. If you believe there is a problem, you
undoubtedly know what is causing it. Cheating, jealousy, possessiveness, mental and physical abuse are some of the
most common.
For example, if you are the jealous type and feel that your ex is cheating on you, you need to start exhibiting
more confidence and stop showing them how insecure you are. If you are treating them with disrespect, you need to
start showing them how much you love and respect them. Don’t go overboard here, because they will suspect something
is up – simply start changing course very gradually.
You may be surprised at how little it really takes to firm up your relationship and make your ex completely
forget about any notion of breaking up with you. The key is to be aware of the signs that things are going downhill
and be willing to take action to reverse course.
Remember that complacency is often one of the biggest factors when it comes to failed relationships.
